Somewhere near 6 PM on Friday the lake reached its maximum legal flood pool level.
I don’t know what happens if it goes higher. Maybe some high-powered government official will show up in a limousine and serve the water with a citation ordering it to appear in court.
This morning it’s cool and breezy. A wind warning goes into effect at 11 AM so it’s likely to get much breezier
Beginning tonight there is cold, winter-like weather coming in with some snow, frosty winds, and slick roads for much of the day Sunday and all of Sunday night.
Get out the jackets and tire chains, they may come in handy.

Renaissance Faire returns to Camp Richardson at Lake Tahoe. It will be this Saturday and Sunday only, June 10-11.
Traffic on US 50 west could be a bit of a tangle due to a slide between Whitehall and Kyburz that is blocking one lane.

Memorial Day has come and gone.
With the exception of Squaw Valley all of the ski resorts are now closed. They all still had plenty of snow but with the warmer weather most people quit coming up to ski.
It’s June now and we are less than a month away from the 4th of July holiday, which is when the summer season really kicks into gear.
Most campgrounds, beaches, and recreation areas are now open although with the water level of the lake being high and still rising there is considerably less beach area to enjoy.

Here are a couple of items about Yosemite National Park.
For you adventurous folks, the Half Dome cables will be up beginning Friday, June 2. I believe reservations are necessary so you might want to check in advance.
Crews on Tioga Road (SR 120) are still plowing through deep snow of 6′ to 10′ and drifts as deep as 20′. It will probably be the latter part of June before the road is opened. Till then there is no access to the park from the east via the Tioga Pass entrance.

As of today the amount of water being released through the dam at Tahoe City has once again been increased. This is the highest flow since the late 1990s.
This means the Truckee River will be running very high from just below the dam all the way through Reno and Sparks.
As long as the river is flowing at this higher rate considerable care should be taken for the water is extremely cold and swift. Hypothermia can quickly take your life.
